This Isn't a Diary. Diaries Are For Girls.

This is crazy (for sports fans).

Pac Bell park in San Fran is awesome. I just got back from a double header there (vs. the Dodgers). I'll post pictures when I get back to Santa Maria, which is sometime soon.

I absolutely positively want to move out of this crappy state. The problem, I don't know where to move to and it isn't a real possibility at this point. But I really hate it.

Why you ask? $963. That's how much my car registration is this year. NINE HUNDRED AND SIXTY THREE DOLLARS. For what?!??! Why!??!?! Because Gray Davis can't manage money, decides he needs more, and as a result he triples the car REGISTRATION tax. What does this $963 get me? The privilege to drive my car when I chose on our "great" Californian roads. Bullshit. I thought I earned that privilege when I wrote the $65,000 check to the BMW dealer almost two years ago. Apparently I was wrong.

Monday I am going to try to find the local representative to call and voice a complaint. It's the least I can do.

I hate this state.

Nevermind the post about fixing the .NET issue of it deleting user controls. It still does. And I hate it.

However, I did come up with a solution so I can at least tell whenever a control is deleted without having to check every form manually. I wrote a program that will automatically verify if the desired code I want to check for is there. It's better than nothing, or an angry customer yelling at me for it not working...

You know it's late (or early) in the morning when you are sitting there and suddenly you hear the paperboy bring up the paper to the porch...

Must go sleep... Brain is fried... Too much programming...

I am happy because I finally figured out work-arounds for the two big bugs that have bothered me in Visual Studio .NET.

#1: VS .NET would randomly change the tab order. While there is no way around it, I finally just readd the tab controls at startup to the order I want.

#2: User controls would delete themself from my forms, randomly. The M$FT bug has to deal with the user controls project being part of the main solution. So I removed it and its project reference and just referenced the DLL in the BIN folder, and it appears to have fixed the problem.

So now I can finally be "happy" about .NET. Basically...

I caved in and bought Alias Season 1 on Michael's recommendation. So I have to watch that AND 24 Season Two now. Eh, the DVD backlog is 20+, plus lots of box sets. I need a vacation where I can just watch these non-stop...

The past week has been busy but I don't have that much to say about it. I basically just worked and watched some movies. I'm trying to figure out when I am going to watch 24: Season Two, but haven't come up with a time frame yet. I think I will set it as a reward after I get through some more work stuff I need to. The life of a programmer sucks. It's truly amazing how it takes so long to do anything (the project I am on has been going for 9+ months -- with some interruptions though...).

Once Upon a Time in Mexico (a/k/a Desperado 2) is a fun movie. I really enjoyed Johnny Depp's character in it. He's becoming one of my favorite actors -- he seems to be awesome in whatever role he picks (Blow, Pirates..., Once Upon a Time..).

Pepsi Vanilla rules by the way. It's so yummy.

The past two days have been basically crappy. Everything seems to annoy me. For example, I went to In N Out with my mom yesterday for dinner. I sat down in a booth, and a little kid directly behind me was jumping up and down, making my seat shake over and over. So we moved to another booth. Then the guy who was sitting directly behind me was shaking his leg and that was shaking me, even worse. So finally we were able to get a table with actual chairs, and it was better -- minus the incredibly loud people all around us. I wanted to go and hurt somebody.

Today my computer chair broke. I've had that chair since Frosh year in college. I loved that chair. I was sitting on it and when I leaned back, it just decided to completely crack at the base. I sucked it up and bought a new chair at Office Depot. Costco had a disappointing selection, and since my mom had a $15 coupon for Office Depot, we went there. I like the new chair, but I am, for some odd reason, really bummed about my chair dying. I've probably spent more time in that chair than with anyone/anything else. Only my bed would be in the running for "most time spent with", and I think the chair would probably, sadly, win.

Besides that, I've been watching more DVDs as of late. Shanghai Noon/Knights, Tears of the Sun, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and Head of State is what I watched recently. Tonight was the first night since Thursday that I did not watch a DVD. I decided to program instead, even though I wasn't really in the mood to. I must work more, even though last week I did program 40+ hours. It's hard to stay focused. I really need a vacation, or to finish my project, which seems to just go on and on and on.

I also read a book about Steve Jobs, which was interesting. It talked about his life after Apple (when he got booted in the 80s) and how he had NeXT and Pixar, and Pixar was his "hobby" company, but it ended up saving him. It was a good read. Next on my "to read list" is "Stealing Time", which talks about the AOL Time Warner merger.

Oh, I've also been learning French for 45-60 minutes a day. So far it's fairly easy -- I guess I do know a smidge of French after all. :)

I do plan on putting the rest of my France pictures up, hopefully in the next day or two. I've been busy I guess, so at least I have an excuse...
